Host a Ladies Only Garden Tea Party
If you have a spacious backyard as well as a lovely garden and have just been itching to invite some friends over to enjoy it with you, why not host a ladies only garden tea party? It will be a great way to get your friends together for a little gossip, delicious fare and to show off your gardening skills.
Finger Foods Rule the Day
Tea party food is always easy. If it is mealtime serve sandwiches on flowered platters and of course you must cut off the crusts! If it is to be more of an afternoon get-together serve fresh vegetables and dips. You can provide cookies and scones and even add clotted cream for a true tea party experience. Of course you will want to have a wide selection of teas to serve. You can go to any novelty shop and purchase tea caddies that fit in with your garden theme.
Decorating the Tables
Cover tables with delicate, lacy tablecloths. Use linen napkins with garden themed napkin holders. Each table should have fresh cut flowers as the centerpiece. They can be from your garden or you can buy them at a garden store or florist. We have Stir Up a Lil Love Silver Heart Straw Stirrers the ladies can use to stir their tea. For each place setting use our Be Seated Victorian Chair Tealight Place Card Holder and encourage the ladies to take theirs home with them. Set our Teacups and Tealights Miniature Porcelain Tealight Holders on the tables for an elegant touch. If you are having tarts or small cakes we have adorable Buttercream Dreams Cake Candles on a Porcelain Pedestal Cake Plate. At each setting along with teacups and saucers give guests our Butterfly Garden Gift Baskets with Wildflower Seed Packets. This will allow the ladies to plant their own flower garden and perhaps host their own garden party.
The Ambiance
Play soft classical music as an accompaniment to the party. If space allows, why not set up a traditional game of croquet and play a game or two. Many of your guests will have a great time playing as it may remind them of long and lazy days of summers past. Encourage the ladies to dress in their best and have them all wear flamboyant hats to add some fun. Elegance can be the name of the day, or you can have a more casual atmosphere if that better suits you and your guests. You can provide each of your guests with a carnation to wear on their shoulders or if you prefer, simple corsages you can make yourself.
A ladies only tea party can be a highlight of your summer entertaining. It is not often that one gets invited to attend one and your friends will be delighted to gather for such a special occasion.
