If you are craving the company of other adults after a long winter indoors with the kids, hosting a cocktail party for couple's only serves two purposes: an adults only atmosphere and celebrating Couple's Appreciation month. Couples that stick it out through thick and thin don't get enough kudos for their efforts, and it is a real effort at times when you are in a relationship. Let's plan a cocktail party to honor your couple friends and indulge in some good conversation while sampling tasty tidbits and sipping a refreshing cocktail.

Trendy Drinks to Serve Cosmopolitans and appletinis gained popularity from the television show Sex in the City. The show bred a host of flavored martinis. One favorite of mine is the pomegranate martini. Flavored martinis can be the drink of the evening. Serve a chocolate martini, or a dirty martini which has olive juice as one of its ingredients. If you prefer you can serve a variety of different liquors or stick with red and white wines.

Tips for Success Be sure you have enough ice. If you are serving wine it will need chilling or drinks on the rocks you don't want to have to make an ice run in the middle of your party. And speaking of drinks, have different types of glassware on hand for the various drinks you will be serving. If you don't have what you need there is always the good old dollar or discount store that will have them on hand. You might get wine glasses, tumblers, highballs and glasses for juices and other types of soft drinks.

Another rule of thumb when it comes to glasses is to double the amount of glasses as there will be invited guests. If you are serving martinis, champagne or wine then those cute wine glass tokens will allow your guests to find their drink easily.

Tips for Decorating for Your Cocktail Party Decide whether you are going for elegance or fashionably casual. No matter which you choose we have a variety of candles that you can set out to enhance the mood. Some great suggestions are our Cocktails Anyone? It's a martini glass gel candle. Two Peas in a Pod Candle fits the Couple's Appreciation month to a T. Put out our Petite Merlot Wine Glass Gel Candle with Heart Charm, the Perfect Pear Candles or Happily Ever After Carriage Candle. If you really want to make an impression on your guests then place your order for our Flashing Wine Glasses. There are 12 to each order and are 6" in height. We also have Parasol Cocktail Picks along with Hibiscus Straws if you're serving soft drinks. You can browse our tableware section to check out our paper plates, napkins and table coverings to see if any suit you. The most important thing at your cocktail party is that you have fun and appreciate your other half. You and your guests should pat each other on the back for your good fortune in finding someone that you love and cherish.

I still like Cosmos and lemon drop cocktails, but those parties
seem to be to much work for the husband. So we are now taking up with
having guests over and serving up red and white wines. We all have a good time with
that.
